timeless parade of treasures
my hand on your heart.
In a shivering instant
all’s lost but our own fury.
Commentary—
“Shooting down the moon”…full of passion and humanness, a rebellion of the transience of life: life is fragile in its momentariness…the line “my hand on your heart” goes right to the core of the distance we must cross. Ah!…to reach the territory of another’s heart and reside and pitch our tent there and look over the high treacherous cliffs that lie as a barrier, taunted by what we see on the other side with our longing… and…reaching the high cliffs/in a shivering instant of the blink of an eye/all’s gone…we see/have known what is lost and our hearts rebel in fury…the promised land taken blindly/without care from us in the grinding wheels of the sacrifice that keeps this cosmos lit, our lives a burning light behind and before us….

into a tumult of bliss
searching for a home.
Deep in the Aztec meadows,
one blue oval leaf remains.
Commentary—
“Deep in the Aztec meadows/one blue oval leaf remains” makes possible psyche sensations of cave-like cool forests and blue-fan silk shadows, images found in underground rivers of the night-realm where we roam in black raven dreams of freedom: I am thrown out on an altered plane of perception taken there by the music of the words and seeming overt meaning, the grammar correct and the images cogent, but the meaning of the words, altogether, elusive, silver with symbolic, lyrical images and sound. Suddenly, in my mind, there is a connection between “ searching for a home” and “deep in the Aztec meadows”…Aztec synonymous with cutting the living heart still beating with life from the body and holding it up into the sky, a sacred ecstatic act of a younger humanity taking ecstasy literally…Aztec meadows a state of mind born from “tumult of bliss,” the searched for home not of this world but sublime where one blue oval leaf remains as talismanic signal we have the power to escape….
